L'histoire du Centre Hospitalier Shalom débute avec la création d'un dispensaire par la 25ème Communauté Évangélique du Kwango, qui a reconnu le besoin de construire un centre de santé de soins primaires pour répondre aux besoins de la population de Camp-Luka et du quartier Congo.
Création sous forme d'un dispensaire sur l'avenue 40, Kimpese, quartier Congo dans la commune de Ngaliema, par la volonté de la 25ème Communauté Évangélique du Kwango (25ème CEK) et les associations locales, dans le but de répondre aux besoins de soins de santé de proximité des fidèles de la CEK et des autres populations.
Construction d'un bâtiment avec le soutien financier de la Coopération Technique Belge (C.T.B), abritant la maternité qui comptait 15 lits.
Construction d'un bâtiment d'un étage accueillant un bloc opératoire, une salle de réveil, 6 chambres individuelles et 1 bureau — permettant au Centre de remplir toutes les conditions et normes de l'O.M.S pour devenir un Centre Hospitalier, confirmé par les autorités du ministère de la santé.
Shalom fonctionne 24h/24 et dépose chaque mois ses rapports d'activités au Ministère de la Santé par le biais du bureau central de la Zone de santé de Binza-météo. Les promoteurs ont confié Shalom au Synode Urbain de l'ECC qui en assure le suivi et la coordination. Shalom se gère de manière autonome : l'approvisionnement en médicaments, matériels et petits investissements se fait à 100 % par autofinancement.
L'Hôpital Shalom s'adapte constamment en vue de répondre à l'évolution des besoins de la communauté qu'il sert, et améliore ses installations et ses équipements en vue d'offrir des soins de qualité aux patients à un faible coût.
The story of Centre Hospitalier Shalom begins with the creation of a dispensary by the 25th Evangelical Community of Kwango, which recognised the need to build a primary healthcare centre to serve the population of Camp-Luka and the Congo neighbourhood.
Founded as a dispensary at 40 Avenue Kimpese, Congo neighbourhood, Ngaliema commune, by the 25th Evangelical Community of Kwango (25th CEK) and local associations, to meet the local healthcare needs of CEK members and the wider population.
Construction of a building with financial support from the Belgian Technical Cooperation (C.T.B), housing the maternity unit with 15 beds.
Construction of a one-storey building housing an operating theatre, recovery room, 6 private rooms and 1 office — enabling the Centre to meet all WHO conditions and standards to become a Hospital Centre, confirmed by the Ministry of Health.
Shalom operates 24/7 and files monthly activity reports with the Ministry of Health through the central office of the Binza-Météo Health Zone. The founders entrusted Shalom to the Urban Synod of the ECC, which oversees and coordinates it. Shalom is self-managed: medicines, equipment and small investments are 100% self-financed.
Shalom Hospital constantly adapts to the evolving needs of the community it serves, improving its facilities and equipment to offer quality care at low cost.
